The Inverter Project

(Ken) April 16, 2013. We finally, installed the Power Inverter! Well, I guess ‘finally’ is quite a strong word since we really hadn’t had a need for one yet. Being newbies to the world of RV’ing full time, we spoiled ourselves the first couple of weeks on the road. Staying in reasonably priced State Park camp grounds and RV parks; utilizing full hook-ups so there just wasn’t a need to use an inverter.

Once we arrived at Hillsborough River State Park in Florida to visit my son Kenny and my daughter Amanda, her husband Kevin and our wonderful granddaughters Makayla and Aubrey; it was time for the install.  And……since Kevin is an electrician who specializes in battery back-up systems, who better to take the lead.

After picking up my youngest son Kenny and spending the day with him on the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, we headed back to the camp ground. Kevin met us there and we dove right in. I volunteered to run cables and install the in-line fuse while Kevin installed and wired the inverter in the next basement storage bay. Kenny and Jodi volunteered to cook: Kenny manned the grill and Jodi prepped all the side dishes.

By the time Amanda and the babies arrived; Kevin and I were wrapping up the inverter test and putting tools away, Jodi had the picnic table ready and Kenny had the grill and the camp fire going strong. It was time to pat ourselves on the back for a job well done and enjoy the burgers and dogs with the kids and grand kids.

So, from me to all of you (Jodi, Kevin, Kenny, Amanda, Makayla and Aubrey) a huge THANK YOU for a wonderful and accomplishing evening.

PS: The inverter works fantastically. In fact I am using it right now!
